Cavinti, Laguna
As of the meantime, visitors are required to drop by at Cavinti Municipal Office to secure a permit before going to Cavinti Underground River and Cave so as to monitor the number of persons visiting the cave since it was only operational last March 30, 2013. You can also visit their facebook account or email them ahead of time regarding the date of your visit or updates.
We are from Santa Cruz, Laguna so travel time from Santa Cruz to Cavinti Municipal Office was approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour. Pagsanjan Bridge was closed due to road constructions so we took the Caliraya Road instead. From Cavinti Municipal Office to Brgy. Paowin was approximately 15mins away.
We did not expect the trip approximately 16 kilometers of bumpy, rough, up and down road going to the cave. I can actually describe it as "alog bituka ride."
One consideration that must be noted is the weather. Best if you go there during summer. The rain will surely make the road very slippery and muddy. Take note, only few houses were there so if ever you will get stuck, you will have to walk that 16 kilometers road to seek help. Make sure to double check the vehicle you are using before the trip. Cars will have a hard time in that rough road so you might want to consider 4-wheel drive or large engine vehicles.
For commuters, according to Municipal office, you can hire a jeepney for 2500 or 100/pax roundtrip.
When you reach the site, there are personnel that will assist you. They will also discuss the do's and dont's before entering the cave.
You will ride a balsa to cross the river about 20 meters long. Expect to trek for about 2-5 minutes to reach the entrance of the cave. The Cave Itself
One word to describe it was "UNBELIEVABLE." I cannot say in numerical form the actual distance of the cave when we took the tour. As what Kuya Rommel, the guide, said "kasing laki ng Cubao ilalim." I cannot believe it at first that the cave was that spacious inside. It was full of stalactites and stalagmites. It was astonishing. The grandness formation of those rocks. I will let the pictures speak for itself.
Stalactites
Remember letter "C" for ceiling. Formation arises from the ceiling.
Stalagmites
Remember letter "G" for ground. formation that arises from the ground.
And when stalactites and stalagmites meet or come in contact with each other, it is now called "column."
Inside the cave was total darkness. Your eyes will never compensate the darkness inside so better if you bring portable emergency light in color white or LED flashlights. We brought 2 LED flashlights and one yellow light flashlight. The latter did not help us much because it was really dark. There are parts of the cave that's dry, some areas are muddy and wet, so make sure not to use slippers. Best if you use rubber shoes or trekking slippers.
Also, be cautious inside the cave. Always watch your step. There are so many rock formations inside, some of it were really sharp so it will surely hurt if you slipped. Anyway, safety hats will be provided. No kids 12 years old below are allowed inside which is justifiable because kids might freak out inside since it's really dark. You don't want accident to happen. Since it was 16 kilometers rough road drive with only few houses nearby, we don't want to take the risk. And also there was no cellphone reception in the area.
The actual experience was breathtaking! World class experience!
P10/head entrance. So be quick to visit Cavinti Underground River and Caves Complex.

Hi.. Magkano po bayad sa tour guide?
ReplyDeletehello. thanks for visiting. last time we went there free entrance and ung tour guide. A tip would do, pang-meryenda po nila. Konti lang kasi sila dun. thanks :)
DeleteI think it's more beautiful than the ones found in the underground river of Palawan. How I wish I could personally see this marvelous work of nature!
ReplyDeleteIt's more fun here in Laguna! hehe! come visit our province :)
Deletehi, yup. NO PERMIT, NO ENTRY policy po sila.
ReplyDeletebecause my bestfriend and I are planning to go there, and we are both girls..
ReplyDeletehi, safe naman po sa loob ng cave. you will be assigned one tour guide per group and also you will be given safety helmets. Just bring flashlights lang kasi madilim sa loob. As much as possible 4x4 wheel or motor ang dala nyo. Rough road kasi ung way. Ingat :)
ReplyDeletethank u
hello. naku, hindi ko kayo masagot. But according to Municipal office of cavinti, strictly NO PERMIT NO ENTRY policy po sila. Better to check their FB page or email their account for reservation prior going there just to make sure. eto po ung email account nila: lgucavinti@gmail.com. ingat po kayo! enjoy :)
Deletethanks for sharing this Jerwin. this is soooo coolll!!! ganda! we're planning to go there soon. as in, very very soon! hehe! salamat po ulit! =D
ReplyDeleteyour welcome! punta na kayo, sobrang ganda sa loob. thanks also for visiting :)
You can also visit their FB account, indicated po dito sa blog :) Eto po ung email acct nila: lgucavinti@gmail.com. About sa way from manila, kung commute kayo, may terminal ng bus sa LRT/BUENDIA going to Santa Cruz, Laguna.
DeleteHi Jerwin Lim just wanna ask if there's a falls near cavinti ecopark??
ReplyDeletehi! yup, there's a falls na malapit. you can visit my article po (Pagsanjan/Magdapio falls).
Deletenice post and set of pics! ganda talaga sa laguna! thanks for sharing! keep on posting.
ReplyDeletethanks! visit na :)
DeleteHi, I'm a resident of Cavinti. I have been there a couple of times bringing my family and officemates. Mababait naman ung mga batay sa entrace before mag byahe ng almost 1hr to cave area. If ung iba na missed ung permit pwede cla pakiusapan if dalawa lang ung nde napasama. As long as lagay din sa list ung kulang this was for your safety kaya need din ilista lahat. As of now inaayos na ung mga rough roads and expect within 5 yrs cementado na lahat ng daan. My advise to you don't bring children, I have noticed that there are some who bring their children. Or if you do so be always cautious sa mga kilos nyo medyo madulas sa cave ang nakakalito saan ka lulusot. For now limited p lang ung area sa cave na pwede nyo pasukin for the reason that there are some areas on the cave still rich with natures gifts (snakes, eels, large bats and other stone minerals) it will be opened to the public if secured na ung area.
ReplyDeletehi! thanks for the additional info! spread the news :)
DeleteHi, may area ba inside the cave or before going there where we can stay for picnic and swim? May maximum time ba to stay inside the cave? Thanks!
I agree with you sir. Pinakamagandang gawin is maglagay ng magandang system of transportation papunta dun. Kikita ang local government, less pahirap din sa gusto magvisit. thank you for your insights :)
DeleteJerwin...Thank you very much for sharing to the world this great shot-the wonders of nature. I am lobbying and petitioning DENR and the town of Cavinti for the protection and conservation of the forest surrounding the area of Cavinti Underground River and Cave Complex through Change.Org. I would appreciate very much if you could share one of your great shot to the petition. Thank you for your preferential support in sharing the beauty of Cavinti. Your also Great...
ReplyDeleteThanks Victor for your interest. Ok, just give me the details. I'm very much willing to help preserve our natural resources. I hope others will show not only interest to our natural resources, but also on how to preserve them. I hope you can share my blog to your friends. Thank you :)
DeleteHi Jerwin I'm too busy this week kaya di ko naasikaso itong request ko. If its okay with you please send it to ronaldreodica@yahoo.com or rreodica@mail.landbank.com Through this petition I hope I can also share your blog not only to my friends but also to the world who love to protect our environment. Salamat po
DeleteThank you Victor. You can check first the set of pictures here,Cavinti Underground River and Caves Complex, then message nyo lang po ako pag may napili po kayo. thanks :)
DeleteHi Jerwin. One picture is enough. Lahat kasi maganda wala ako ng itulak o kabigin and it speaks for itself. Kaya okey lang sa akin kahit alin. Thanks and regards.
Deletehi, jerwin.. ask ko lng kung pde makapunta dun kahit weekends khit on the same day kukuha ng permit?
ReplyDeletehi! According to their FB account, fully booked po weekends up until may 19. :)
DeleteIn Sagada Cave connection, the entrance is different from the exit... Is this the same for the Cavinti cave? Or it would be a back and forth trekking... thanks.
ReplyDeletehi. Im not so sure. according to the guide assigned to us, there are 36 chambers of this cave if Im not mistaken. But not all of them are accesible to public.
Deletei'm so excited to see cavinti caves... ahm just want to ask if we need to bring extra clothes to go there...may posibility siguro na mabasa kami dun.. am i right? thanks Jerwin Lim..:)
ReplyDeletethanks for visiting. yup, may possibility na mabasa kayo, may river dun na naliligo ung ibang tao, at the same time waiting area na din.
Cruz, Laguna pareho. Usually 2-3hrs travel time. Once you get to Sta.cruz, Laguna, may mga jeep going to Cavinti. Kindly check their Facebook account (Cavinti Underground River and Caves Complex) for availability of slots and other updates first, parang hindi sila napapapasok ngayon due to continuous rains this past few days. Have a safe trip! thanks and please share :)
Deletehi, just wanted to know if theres a regular route for public going to cavinti cave?
Pwede din trekking for 3hrs. :)
Deletehi Jerwin, we have reservations na for June1 caving. Bringing of foods is prohibited ba inside the cave? Where can we safekeep our baons and other stuffs before entering the cave? How long will it take us to explore the cave? We plan to take a swim also, after caving. Please give us some tips and things to bring. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteyour welcome. yup, bringing of foods is prohibited. You can leave your things inside the car. If not possible, you can bring them with you sa cave.
Deleteis the road going to cavinti cave already paved or still muddy at this time?
ReplyDeleteHi. yup, the road is still muddy especially during rainy seasons. Better check the Tourism office of Cavinti before going there. thanks :)
DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteSa Puerto Princese Underground River required na magsuot ang vistors ng gloves while inside kasi acidic ang kamay natin that kill the minerals of the stalagmites and stalactites.
Deletehi... uhm gud pm. we are group consist of 18pax, bisitahin m nmin yang cavinti caves and lakes po sana this saturday oct 5 to sunday oct 6 2013. question po, sure mag enjoy kmi rite? kaso po ang problema po nmin, wala ako makita s net ng place to stay khit resort o inn man lng. meron p b n malapit s mga ilog n yan n pwede kmi mag stay even for a nite man lng? meron kmi nkita kaso 8k two days, medyo mahal n po b un? at d po nmin alam kun saan un banda dyan? sana matulungan m kami asap kc punta n po kmi dyan this weekend salamat po
ReplyDeletekanino po pde mag pa reserved for two sa underground river?
DeleteHi sir jerwin we are 3rd yr tourism college students of LPU manila. And i topic this cavinti underground river for our thesis. By february 1 , were planning to visit the place to conduct survey. :) so im asking kung san mismo sya nakalocate? Malayo po b sya ng sobra? If sta.cruz ang starting point namin? :) thanks. Godbless.
ReplyDeletehello, sorry sa late reply. medyo busy lang po. actually ung way from sta.cruz to cavinti ay madali lang. medyo malayo lang is ung rough road papunta mismo sa cave. Kindly coordinate sa municipal office nila. I heard nag-ooperate na ulit ang cave. ingat kayo and enjoy :)
ReplyDeletehi, thanks sa visit! about sa permit, depende sa schedule ng cave. but I heard they only accomodate 50persons per day. Kindly coordinate sa Facebook Page nila indicated above. thanks :)
Deletehi how much po ang magiging expenses per head pag punta jan? including the permits at transpo. thnx.
ReplyDeleteas per FB page, Local tourist rate is 540. but as Ive said, kindly secure permits first bago kayo pumunta dun. You can also inquire about transpo sa Tourism office ng cavinti and sa FB page nila. ty :)
Mas ok if you secure permits bago kayo pumunta dun especially ngayon for reservations and 50 persons per day lang ang allowed according to their FB page. :)
Deletehow much po ang entrance fee s cave?
